Who Qualifies?

Hospice services are available to anyone who:

• Has in the opinion of their attending physician six months or less of life expectancy if the disease follows its normal course;
• Resides or is able to reside within the five county service area of Caldwell, Christian, Lyon, Todd and Trigg counties;
• Has made a decision with their attending physician to seek quality of life and comfort care rather than curative treatment;
• Has a competent person willing to be trained in hospice care and take responsibility when the patient is unable to do so;
• Agrees to the course of care established by hospice, the patient, the family and attending physician.

Patients who have no primary caregiver will be evaluated for eligibility on an individual, case-by-case basis.

Our program provides support and care for persons in the last phase of an incurable disease so they can live as fully and comfortably as possible for as long as possible. Hospice services include care from a medical team consisting of a nurse, nurse aide, social worker, chaplain, clinical director and medical director. We also provide trained volunteers to assist the patient and their family when needed.

Pennyroyal Hospice services are available 24 hours a day, seven days a week. We are available to patients and their families without regard to sex, nationality, race, creed, sexual orientation, disability or ability to pay. We serve patients of all ages, from infants to seniors. We work with all terminally ill patients, including:

• Alzheimer's disease
• Parkinson's disease
• Lung diseases
• Cardiovascular diseases
• Renal diseases
• Diabetes mellitus
• AIDS
• Liver diseases
• Failure to thrive (old age)
• Cancers of all categories
• Other terminal conditions
